Key to Evan's longevity

Many thanks for the article on three-time gold medalist Olympic swimmer Janet Evans ["Evan's success stood test of time," Sports, June 4]. She represents the integrity of all true Olympians, but also the humility and indomitable spirit sadly lacking in today's era of egocentric role models. The luster of her first gold medal may have faded, but its tarnish represents the bright beacon of what athletics has to teach us beyond the meaning of the Olympic motto "Citius, Altius, Fortius" ["Faster, Higher, Stronger"]
